Super Subtle FOTD

So as many of you know I recently did a pretty sweet Sephora haul, reviewed one of the products and then totally flaked on the rest. Well, I have been playing with the other products and will have the other reviews up in the next day or two.
So tonight I was doing pictures for the product reviews, and I really liked the look I threw together for them so I thought I'd share the look in a little more detail for you tonight. I actually went with a nude lipstick, which is super rare for me, and I think it would be a great spring/summer look.

I started by applying NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc all over my face and working it in well, blending out all lines. Streaky foundation is one of my biggest pet peeves, it looks so friggin tacky.
Then I used my e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream in St. Lucia to contour my face a bit. I used to blush very lightly on the apples of my cheeks, focusing the color more towards the outside and blending it inward, and applied just the tiniest bit to my chin to give my face a little color. I applied the bronzer through the hollows of my cheeks pulling it up to the temples, and then lightly around the hairline and the jawbone blending constantly. I also decided to contour my nose with the bronzer, which I very rarely do.
Next I used my e.l.f. Under Eye Concealer & Highlighter to highlight my face. I used the highlight side of the duo, Glow, on top of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and across my Cupid's bow. I also took my e.l.f. Eyelid Primer over the lid and through the brow to prep for eyeshadow.
For the eyeshadow, I used my Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Enchanted Forest. I don't know if this quad is still available, I've had it for a couple years now, but I really like it. It comes with two different shimmery tan colors, a shimmery green, and a not quite matte dark brown. I used the darker of the two tans all over the lid, then worked the green through the outer half of the crease, and used the brown in the outer corner of the eye. Then I blended like mad for a nice subtle wash of color. I used the e.l.f. Highlighter that I used to highlight my face on the brow bone.
I used my Sephora Collection Long Lasting 12 HR Wear Eyeliner in Glitter Black nice and thick along the upper lash line, and brought it out into a dramatic wing. I then used my Cover Girl Lash Blast Luxe in Black Platinum on the upper and lower lashes.
For my eyebrows I used the brown shadow from my e.l.f. Essentials Brightening Eye Color quad in Day 2 Night with a small angle brush.
I finished with a nude lip, using Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense 22 all over the lip and blending just a hint of Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural in N9 through the outer corners of my lips. As it would turn out I can pull off a nude lip so long as I add some depth with a darker nude on the outside. Good to know as I've been avoiding nude lips for a while. I just happened to have samples of these colors and decided to put them to use.

That pretty well sums up the makeup, and I really like it. I'm a big fan of natural looks and this one is one of the better natural looks that I've done. And if you're curious as to how I did my hair, I rinsed it really well with water (no shampoo), wrapped it up in a towel and let it towel dry while I was doing my makeup. Then I just let it out of the towel and kinda finger combed my hair, took a bobby pin and pinned my bangs back. That's just what my hair does.

I hope you all liked this FOTD, I would have done a full step by step tutorial, but I really didn't think it would turn out as cool as it did. And for the record, I will type up more of my haul reviews tomorrow as I do have all the pictures done, but it's really late here and I have to get up in the morning, so it's not happening tonight. As always, I encourage you to leave a comment below if you like the look or just want to say hi or whatever. And if you like what you see, please subscribe. It totally makes my day.
And this is probably getting old already, but please do check out my Facebook page! To get there just click this link. And I did recently add a link to my Pinterest over in the upper right sidebar, and a Pin It button over in the upper left sidebar so you can share the love with ease. But it's late and I'm rambling, so to my European and Asian viewers I say good morning, and to my US and Canadian viewers I say good night. til next time!

  1. Your lashes are so curly! I can never get mine to curl (or anything else). I've nominated you for the Versatile Bloggers' Award: http://mybeautyjunction.blogspot.in/2013/03/im-back.html

    1. Thanks, I definitely lucked out with my lashes. Good thing too, because false lashes drive me insane. I'll only ever wear them when I'm doing pictures for dramatic makeup.

And thanks so much for nominating me!!! That's so cool! :D
I'll be sure to check it out first thing in the morning, but I'm struggling to keep my eyes open at the moment, so it's gonna have to wait a few hours, hehe.
I hope you had an amazing weekend!
