NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Hello ladies! I'm sure that a lot of you are noticing right about now that I completely and totally revamped my blog here. I seriously spent around 5 or 6 hours picking out a new background, picking and customizing a header, and making a button for my blog which you can find in the side bar if you'd like to share it. I hope you guys like the new layout here, and there is more to come. I'm going to add an About Me page, a Contact page, a Disclaimer page, and a Sponsor/Donate page. So yeah, I'm a busy lady at the moment.
Now you should know that when it comes to html and coding, I am less than adequate. I have zero patience for such things, and it has always ended in me giving up. However, I received a link a while back from Sarah at A Cat-Like Curiosity to one of her posts on how to make your own custom buttons. It was extremely helpful and without her link I would never have gotten that button put together. If you're interested in making your own button and aren't sure where to start, click here to see her wonderful post.

And now it's time for the next installment in my Sephora haul product reviews. Today I will be reviewing NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in the color Mont Blanc. I picked this item up at the Sephora in my local J.C. Penny's for $44 USD.

Disclaimer: I purchased this product with my own funds, I am not being paid or compensated by the company in question. My opinions are entirely my own.

Now I know I've gone on before about how hard it is for me to find a liquid foundation that works for me. I either have to mix 2 different shades to get the right one for me, or I have to mix a foundation with a moisturizer so it doesn't look cakey or off color. So before I went and bought this foundation I talked with my friends to get some advice on the matter. This was the product that was recommended to me from a good friend as it's supposed to be for people with dry skin, it's not super full coverage, and this product comes in a wide variety of shades. So I figured I'd give it a go.
The packaging for this shade of the line was the only shade to come in a container without a pump. I don't know if it has to do with the Sephora that I was at or what, but I found it a bit odd. And I was a little bummed that I didn't get a pump top, but I really wanted to try the product, so whatever. It's not really a big deal. Also, the glass on this container is thick! I dropped it on my bathroom floor the first time I went to try it out and it was just fine.
Now the formula for this seemed a little thin compared to other foundations that I've used in the past, and I was a little skeptical as to how well it was going to work. But let me tell you, my skepticism was totally unwarranted! This is an absolutely amazing foundation. It compliments my skin color very well, the light weight formula doesn't cake up on my dry skin, and it just looks so natural!

According to the little leaflet that came in the packaging from NARS "Sheer Glow's silky fluid delivers immediate hydration, evens skin tone and leaves the skin brighter and more radiant. Used daily, your skin's texture improves over time, becoming softer, smoother and more luminous. Sheer Glow Foundation provides weightless and buildable coverage, with a natural radiant finish. For normal to dry skin."
Now I didn't notice this product being particularly hydrating, but it didn't dry my skin out, which is more than I can say for any other liquid foundation that I've tried. I also haven't had the time to see if the long term benefits are legit, but I did wear the makeup over night and it didn't make me break out at all, so it's probably true. And if not, you're wearing the foundation every day anyway, so you're going to look good regardless.
What I did notice with this foundation was how even, radiant and all around gorgeous this product made my skin look! I don't have bad skin or anything, but I do get the occasional pimple or random redness. And this product does build up pretty well to cover your imperfections without making you look like you're wearing a mask. Also, random tip, apply this foundation with your fingers. I'm a big fan of my foundation brush, but I tried this one with my brush and with my fingers, and fingers win. It even says in the product directions to use your fingers.
Now I did use some blusher and bronzer, but the NARS foundation is the only other product on my skin. I didn't even set it with a powder, which is like unheard of for me. I love my powders, but this product trumps them by a LOT. It just looks so natural, I still can't get over it. They weren't kidding when they said it would make your skin luminous.
Keep in mind that this is NOT a full coverage foundation. It is a sheer coverage foundation, and for people with skin like mine it's perfect. But if you're going to spend money on a full coverage foundation, you don't want this one.
So, will I be repurchasing this product? YES! A million times yes! This is my new holy grail face product. It may be expensive, but it's worth every penny. Plus it's going to last me for a long while as a little goes a long way.
Would I recommend this product? That depends on what you're looking for. If you have a lot of acne or eczema or some other major skin issues, you should find something else. But if you have fairly balanced to dry skin with small issues, this would probably be great for you.
Well, I've been at my computer working on my blog for far too long now and need to get some sleep and rest my eyes. I hope you enjoyed this review, and if you're contemplating buying this product I hope I helped you out a bit. I'd love it if you dropped a comment below with your opinions on this product, or any questions you may have.
And if you haven't yet, check me out on Facebook. I post lots of pictures and random updates, and it's also a great way to get a hold of me if you have any questions or want to organize something with me. If you're interested in KalamityJane on Facebook, click here. Til next time!

  1. Love the background, it's so neat. I need to change my highly-cluttered one, though I can't find anything which represents my blog. And I'm so dumb, I dunno how to do my own or to change the code and stuff. Btw, how do you make a button for your blog?

    1. Thanks, and so you know I really am pretty dumb when it comes to all this as well. I got the background and header at http://thecutestblogontheblock.com for free. And their instructions make the process really easy.
And the button. That part was a little trickier, but basically I found the code to make a button with detailed instructions here: http://acatlikecuriosity.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/tips-and-tricks-creating-and-sharing.html
The button took me a while to figure out, but her instructions are good. If you check out her site, copy the code she has for the button and paste it onto Notepad. Then you make a design or use a photo and edit it the way you like it, then you need to upload the photo onto a blog post and copy the image url. Then paste the image url where she indicates, and put your blog url where she indicates in the code. Then you copy the whole thing and add to a gadget in your sidebar. I screwed up my code a few times, and it took me some serious trial and error because I know nothing about code, but it worked out in the end.
      Hope this was helpful!

    1. Thanks, it took me forever to get it all finished up, but I managed to get it all done without tossing my laptop out the window. That's a win in my book. :)

  3. I love how this looks on your skin and thanks for pointing out that if you want full coverage, don't waste your money because it doesn't do that - something most people will forget I think xx

    1. Thanks! I'm pretty in love with what this does for my skin. And yeah, I had a feeling that people might not notice that it isn't full coverage, and I'd hate for people to go out and spend so much on something that isn't right for their skin.

    1. Thanks! And NARS is quite expensive, which is why I hadn't tried it earlier, but their foundation is worth it.
